So we didn’t play Free Press’ Summer Fest this year, we would rather be rockin’ than watchin’. But, it did give us loads of time to check out some awesome bands we had never heard before.
I was riding my bike down the street to get into the show, and ran into Valient Himself from Valient Thorr. He was getting suited up before his bands heavy set. Very cool and friendly guy, this is our “it’s about to get heavy face”. Their set blew people away.
Good thing I biked into the show. The line to get in was literally a couple of thousand deep. All the way down Allen Parkway. Those blurry dots in the middle left far background are people too. Good news is, I just locked my bike up to a fence and pegged in. That’s when I ran into Valient Himself.
This is UME from Austin,Tx. There’s a guitar attached to the flailing singer. I’ve heard about them but never seen them. The bassplayer had a cool set up of distortion pedals he would use on certain parts of song. Pretty good band, high energy rock.
Somebody had a few beers. This was backstage. I can account for only a few.
