In One Piece…

Made it back from SXSW in one piece…Talk about an intense and quick few days.

Highlights were Rhett Miller, Black Angels, Sleepy Sun, and a band from San Fran called Soft White 60′s. Jack White’s showcase had a 3 hour line down 6th st, so missed that one.

Best of all, we made some friends and ran into old and new music contacts. The music business is A LOT different these days, and we’re looking at things from a different angle. Still, there is no substitute for a good live rock show!!

And I have to say, most every band we saw had their act together; song wise, performance wise , attitude, the whole deal. If you haven’t been to SXSW  or its been a while, try to make it next year. It has changed a bunch….for the better and worse. But there’s a ton great bands to be discovered…who knows, you may run into us.

Black Angels. A few feet from the stage, these guys were loud and tight.

Howler

Brendan Benson

I’ll be posting some other must see bands, and maybe a few clips of their tunes.

If you have any bands you think we should see, send them on..

Oh yeah, and there is a bar on 4th st called Peche’. It has some of the best drinks I have ever had.  It’s an absinthe bar that also does pre prohibition style drinks. What’s even better is, Cedar Street Bar is next door, so you can see Built To Spill or Brendan Benson while have an awesome drink. There’s your insider tip.

No News Is Good News.

Mixing away on the Beck influenced tune “Bleed It Til”.I forgot how much time you can chew up in the studio…….Working on version 15 of the song.

We’ll see if this is releasable or just a good quality demo, you’ll get to be the judge.

It’s also pretty cool to have a home studio set up going. You can mix a little, then go saw a tree down, and come back and record some guitar.

Got A New Pedal…

So I figured I would test it out. It’s the Boss DD7 Digital Delay. It also has a looper built in to it. I recorded our song “Keep Your Eyes On The Weeds” on my cell using the DD7. It has 3 layers of guitar on it. Turned out pretty good for a quick cell phone demo.

check it out…
